Numatic International

Numatic International, the makers of those cheeky vacuum cleaners with faces on have seen tremendous success in recent years.

As a consequence they have invested millions of pounds in new facilities at their headquarters in Chard, Somerset. A new computer suite meant that they began to assess what type of power protection best suited their purpose. Like many of today's organisations, 7 by 24 operations demand the maximum uptime, which means putting a greater demand on the individual systems within the network. It was decided that the Symmetra Power Array offered the best reliability (unrivalled uptime of 99.999%) at a reasonable cost and with an easily managed upgrade path.

During discussions we agreed to link the system to the new fire alarm system so that a safe shutdown sequence could be automatically triggered and so avoiding a potential crash in a real emergency. Out of band dialling provides automated paging and SMS messaging in the event of an alarm and the ethernet connection allows for broadcast messaging of any alarm to the necessary personnel. The system was installed within two weeks of order allowing the rest of the room to be protected from power problems as soon as it was configured.
