Vertical MasterSwitch
The New MasterSwitch product comes in two parts, a central control box and a vertical strip of 8 power outlets. These outlets can actually measure the power output feeding each device and report back to Powerchute Plus software. Each control box can support up to four vertical strips which means 32 outlets in total. The obvious advantage of the units is that they do not take up any rack space as the strips are designed to be mounted on the sides of the rack itself. A large ISP made the comment that for them, each "U" is worth about 175 a year in revenue, so taking up 4 "U" with MasterSwitch meant a considerable loss in revenue. Prices are yet to be announced for the UK but as a guide we are expecting the control box to be about 350 and the strips about 325.
